According to the EDD, San Diego's August labor force consisted of 1,497,400 people. Out of that labor force, 1,432,600 workers were employed while 64,800 others were out of work..

In terms of unemployment, the EDD has ranked San Diego County as number eight out of 58 regions statewide. This means that only seven other counties had higher levels of employment than San Diego for the month of August.
