San Diego Employment Holds Steady

SAN DIEGO-The county has recorded an unemployment rate of 4.3% for the month of August, according to a report released today by the California Employment Development Department. The figure reflects a slight improvement from July, when the region reported an unemployment level of 4.7%.

SAN DIEGO-Political uncertainty and all, San Diego County’s economy continues to hold strong with unemployment here on the decline.The region has recorded an unemployment rate of 4.3% for the month of August, according to a report released today by the California Employment Development Department. The figure marks a slight improvement from July of this year, when the region’s unemployment level was at 4.7%. August’s unemployment rate is also more than two percentage points lower than the statewide average, which the EDD has reported as 6.5%.

According to the EDD, San Diego’s August labor force consisted of 1,497,400 people. Out of that labor force, 1,432,600 workers were employed while 64,800 others were out of work..
