MAPLE GROVE, MN-Ultimate Electronics will open a new store in Maple Grove next week, and change its name of its six Audio King stores in Minnesota to Ultimate Electronics.

The store opening, which along with the name changes will be effective Sept. 19, is one of seven the chain is opening this year. On that same date, Ultimate Electronics also will open a new store in Maple Grove.

Audio King merged with Denver, Colo.-based electronics store Ultimate Electronics Inc. in 1997 and now the remaining stores are taking the new parent's name.

They Audio King stores will be remodeled and new features will be added, including a special “Hard Rock Sound Asylum” theme room, featuring state-of-the-art sound equipment, set up in cooperation with the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant chain.

Ultimate Electronics has 59 stores in 13 states, which includes the new store in Maple Grove. With the Maple Grove store, the company would now have six stores in the Twin Cities area and one store in St. Cloud.
