The award recognizes two southeast Michigan commercial property developments that significantly impact their surrounding communities -- one redevelopment project and one new construction project, explains Beth Lilley, the award committee chair and first VP with Bank One Commercial Real Estate in Detroit.

The LOC Performance headquarters, a 200,000-sf complex on a 26-acre brownfield site, won in the new construction category. It includes an 180,000-sf manufacturing facility with attached two-story office section for this defense industry parts manufacturer.

Ford Field -- the 1.8-million-sf, 65,000-seat stadium home of the Detroit Lions -- won in the redevelopment category. The project incorporates approximately 750,000 sf of the former J.L. Hudson's warehouse, a Detroit landmark built between 1913 and 1976.
