BALTIMORE-The Rotunda, a 215,000-sf mixed-use property at 711 W. 40th St., has gotten a renewed and expanded commitment from retail tenant Tomlinson Craft Collection. The distinctive neighborhood shop of upscale merchandise renewed the lease on its space for an additional eight years, and expanded its occupancy from 1,400 sf to 2,300 sf. Dicky Darrell of Manekin LLC, the property’s manager and one-time owner, tells GlobeSt.com that space at the Rotunda goes for $30 per sf.
Tomlinson, a neighborhood favorite, has occupied a spot at the Rotunda for the last 30 years. “The Rotunda is a unique place; there is nothing like it in Baltimore,” say store owners Bernardo and Arlene Grinblat. The 1920s era property began as a Maryland Casualty Co. complex, but was converted to a retail and office destination in 1972 by then owner Manekin LLC. Other tenants occupying space in the 137,000-sf retail section of the complex include Giant Food, Radio Shack, and Rite Aid. Office tenants consist of the likes of the American Substance Abuse Professionals Inc., Clear Channel Broadcasting Inc., the Social Security Administration, and the Space Telescope Science Institute.
