CHICAGO-The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. is subleasing 22,540 sf on the 19th floor of NBC Tower from Canadian National Railway. The chewing gum company chose the space at 455 Cityfront Plaza after looking at space in the Central Loop and River North as well as the East Loop during the last six months.

The sublease deal, which gives the gum company needed space that is not available at its namesake Wrigley Building at 401 N. Michigan Ave., runs through 2007. Although terms were not disclosed, published net lease rates at NBC Tower range from $22 to $25 per sf.

Illinois Central Railway, which has been acquired by Canadian National Railway, is remaining on the 20th floor of NBC Tower.

In the NBC Tower negotiations, Kevin McLennan, David Stein and Tyler Roth of Steinco Inc. represented Illinois Central Railway while NAI Hiffman vice president Ted M. Holman represented Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co.

In an unrelated deal in the Central Loop, Fireman's Annuity & Benefit Fund of Chicago signed a 7,820-sf deal at 20 S. Clark St., formerly 2 First National Plaza. The retirement fund for active and retired Chicago firefighters is moving from 1 N. Franklin St. after an 18-month search handled by Grubb & Ellis Co. VP Dennis Copeland along with partners Jerry Bloomstrand and J. Mark Stables. M & J Wilkow VP Derek Rolison represented his company during negotiations.
