Parking Garage Plans Push Forward

ANNAPOLIS, MD-Plans for the Knighton Garage–a five-level parking facility capable of accommodating up to nearly 270 vehicles in the historic Village Complex–have gotten on the fast track with city officials’ recent selection of Costello Construction as the project builder. Work on the $6.7 million facility begins this month and is on target to wrap up about a year from now. The garage, which will sit at Colonial Ave. and West St., will primarily serve as parking accommodations for those visiting the new shops and eateries opening up in the Village’s four revitalized historic structures.

“This is a significant milestone in the renaissance of West St., the historic gateway to the City of Annapolis,” says Annapolis Mayor Ellen Moyer. “This crucial element in the revitalization of West St. addresses the need for convenient parking, just as new businesses are opening and other projects are beginning. One year from now we will fully appreciate how pivotal this garage is to renewal efforts.”
