The planning application covers the initial two phases totalling 1.8 million sf of industrial and distribution space to the north of the site and 1.4 million sf of office space to the south. The first two phases alone are expected to be developed over a 10-year period and may include some leisure and ancillary retail space tomeet the needs of occupiers.
Omega is located on 558-acre site on the former Burtonwood Airbase adjacent to the M62 motorway. Overthe next 25 to 30 years it will become one of Europe's largest regeneration schemes, providing in excess of 24,000 jobs. Miller Developments Director Andrew Sutherland, said: "The submission of the planning application marks the end of over 18 monthsof extensive consultation but is really only the first step in realising thepotential that Omega presents for the North West and the UK."
