The five-year grant will be used to completely renovate the third floor of the Liberal Arts Building where the college's science and math programs reside.
"The new facilities will contribute to our abilities to increase student enrollment, retention and success," says President Glenda D. Price. The modernization will lead to interdisciplinary research opportunities for faculty and students, the incorporation of new teaching strategies and the establishment of student academic enrichment programs.
The grant will finance about 33% of the total costs of the college's renovation initiative. About 66%, or $2.8 million, will be financed by other sources. Marygrove College is a liberal arts college located on 53 acres in one of the city's oldest residential neighborhoods.
