Seniors Prefer Apartments to Assisted Living

ANNAPOLIS, MD-Wrapping up a two-year study, the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industries has concluded that, when moving from their houses, most of the nation’s seniors opt to relocate to all-ages rental apartments, as opposed to senior living properties. The study, Understanding Seniors Housing Demand, Choices and Behavior: Insights from the AHEAD and HRS Studies, researched 13,000 households with 22,000 residents.

However, the report also concludes that those among the aging population who do choose senior housing facilities over non-age restricted rental apartments are happier and healthier for it.
