Interstate Hotels Sees Changes at the Top

WASHINGTON, DC-Changes have come to the top of the masthead at Interstate Hotels & Resorts now that the company’s chief investment officer, Steven D. Jorns, has been tapped to take on the role of CEO. After five years with the organization, he steps into the shoes of former CEO Paul W. Whetsell who will stay onboard the independent hotel management concern’s team as chairman of the board. Jorns brings with him to the position more than three decades of experience in the hotel business.

“Steve brings exceptional operating depth and expertise to our company,” Whetsell notes. “He has been through a number of economic cycles in the hotel industry, experience which will be highly beneficial as the hotel economy begins to emerge from its extended downturn.” And in a final change at the company, Interstate president and COO John Emery has announced he will complete his exit from the company by year’s end.
