Tropicana Parking Garage Collapses

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ-A portion of an under-construction parking garage at the Tropicana Casino and Resorts collapsed Thursday. Four deaths and numerous injuries were reported. The hotel is undergoing a $245 million expansion.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ-A five-story section of the Tropicana Casino and Resort’s parking garage that is under construction collapsed earlier today killing four and injuring more than a dozen, according to published reports. A number of other workers were reported missing.

Just over a month ago, a topping-off ceremony was held for the Tropicana’s $245 million, 33-story expansion project. Owner Aztar Corp. is adding a total of 502 guest rooms to bring its total to 2,127. When completed, the spot will bear the title of the Northeast’s biggest hotel.
