Norelco decided to remain in its 37,000 sf corporate headquarters space at the 11-story, 135,000-sf building. The company has maintained its corporate headquarters address at the property for the past 10 years, Stoddard notes. No details on the lease extension term were released. Gerard Lees, senior vice president of Cushman & Wakefield of Connecticut, represented Norelco in the lease deal.
Stoddard says building owners from Stamford to Norwalk as well as from Westchester County were vying for the Norelco requirement. "In response, MetLife addressed Norelco's needs, added building amenities and extended Norelco's right to display its landmark sign," Stoddard says.
Stoddard adds that the 1010 Washington Blvd. property, a multi-tenanted building, has been consistently able to retain its tenant base. "Once a tenant moves into 1010 Washington, it seldom relocates. Replacing Washington Square's convenience, services and competitive rent downtown is a Quixote-quest," he notes.
In addition to Norelco, another major tenant at the building is Grey Advertising. The building is currently 86% occupied.
