Dexter Crossing Put on Indefinite Hold

DEXTER, MI-A slow economy appears to be the reason a local $150-million mixed-use housing and commercial development has been put on hold. The village council has withdrawn its approval as well.

DEXTER, MI-Dexter Crossing, a $150-million housing and commercial development on the southern edge of Dexter Village, has been put on hold after the village council withdrew its approval of the project.

The council recently revoked a development agreement with the Blackhawk Development Co. of Ann Arbor for the remaining eight acres of land where retail and professional office facilities were to be built. Site plans for those parcels had not been submitted prior to an Oct. 1 deadline, prompting the village action.

A Blackhawk spokesman says the company let the agreement lapse because of soft demand for the project under the current economic climate.
