A Kalamazoo County development company is using that name for its plan to redevelop a 2.2 million sf, 341-acre former General Motors plant
Hackman Capital Partners envisions banking, credit unions, restaurants, athletic facilities, dry cleaning, flexible-use office and research space, and room for warehousing at the site, just south of Interstate 94 on Sprinkle Road in Comstock Township.
Hackman Capital plans to convert the former GM metal-stamping plant into a two-part, modern business park for manufacturing and other uses.
According to reports, plans also call for splitting the former factory into two separate buildings: a 715,200-sf west facility to be marketed for light-industrial uses, research and development and warehousing; and an 828,800-sf east facility to be marketed for heavy manufacturing uses, steel storage and forming, and distribution and logistics.
The marketing effort will start with sprucing up the exterior, creating multiple entrances for multiple tenants and building a greenery-lined boulevard into the facility from Sprinkle Road at Vanrick Drive. This will all be part of the $12 million first phase of redevelopment for the facility. This phase will also include a 168,000-sf "spec" area with new lighting, flooring and a new multiple-tenant entrance.
