Retailers Line up for Ships Tavern Project

WILMINGTON, DE-The Ships Tavern District, a 140,000-sf mixed-use project being developed to revitalize the city’s ailing Market Street area, has been shaping up nicely with recent lease signings with three tenants for ground-level retail digs. Katie Hearn of Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse Inc.–the company behind the development and leasing of the property–tells GlobeSt.com that the retail space leases for approximately $20 per sf.

An Egyptian Pizza restaurant has committed to 2,400 sf of space, while Subway sandwich shop and Vassar Interiors have signed on for 1,500 sf and 1,600 sf, respectively. “With Ships Tavern District located only two blocks from AMTRAK and Wilmington’s popular Riverfront and six walking blocks from Rodney Square, we are confident that the addition of these retailers/restaurateurs will bring added value to our residential tenants as well as the surrounding neighborhood,” Struever Bros. CEO Bill Struever says.
