WASHINGTON, DC-The Atlantic Building–a 290,000-sf premier-office building to get under way in January courtesy of CarrAmerica Realty Corp. and Douglas Development Corp.–has reeled in its first big pre-lease agreement. Renowned US law firm Alston & Bird LLP has committed to nearly 120,000 sf of office space in the complex.

“The firm is playing a pivotal role in bringing this exciting project to fruition,” says CarrAmerica’s John Donovan. Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant, which will relocate from offices at 601 Pennsylvania Ave., while Carr Real Estate Services Inc. stood in for the ownership. Terms of the firm’s lease agreement have not been disclosed, but CarrAmerica is marketing office space in the class A building at 950 F St. for as much as $44 per sf.
