Proposals currently being drawn up by the Dutch project masterplanners, Maxwan, will create a new community of over 10,000 new homes supported by major transport improvements, community facilities, new schools and employment opportunities stretching along more than a mile of the north bank of the Thames. The development is expected to take 15 years.
Bellway Chief Executive John Watson said: "This is an innovative joint venture scheme, the first public private partnership of its kind in the housing sector and is specifically designed to kick-start and deliver a new and sustainable community that will help provide new affordable homes in this part of the country."
