New State Grant Spurs SAGE Facility

FARIBAULT, MN-A $100,000 state grant will help spur a new 55,000 sf manufacturing facility for SAGE Electrochromics in Heselton Industrial Park.

FARIBAULT, MN-SAGE Electrochromics plans to build new manufacturing and product development operations in a new 55,000 sf facility to be built by MDC Development Corp. with a lease purchase arrangement. The new facility will be located in Heselton Industrial Park along the extension of Park Avenue to the north with good visibility from the interstate and room for expansion. The plan is for MDC Development II, LLC to buy the land and build the facility for Sage. The company would then relocate current operations that had been established as a pilot plant facility at 2150 Airport Drive in Faribault.

SAGE currently employs 25 people who will be retained and will hire 25 more employees in the move to the new facility. They plan to employ as many as 250 people at full build out after the development of all expansion phases that will be completed in about five or more years out.

The state grant would help improve and expand public infrastructure from Park Avenue to 36th Street NW. The grant, awarded through the Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Program, is designed to help communities stimulate business development and job creation by providing financial assistance for costly business-related infrastructure projects.
