Residents Fight Condo Conversion Project

ATLANTA-A planned 70-unit, four-story structure by Coro Realty Advisors and Highlands Cos. next to Piedmont Park in Midtown faces opposition from preservationists who argue two 100-year-old apartment buildings shouldn't be demolished for the condo venture.

ATLANTA-Although the city approved blueprints last month for the demolition of two 100-year-old apartment buildings to make way for a 70-unit, four-story condominium project, Midtown residents and local preservationists are fighting the venture planned at Piedmont Avenue and 12th Street.

And even though the apartment buildings are not on any historic registry, the Atlanta Preservation Center plans to appeal the city’s development order through the city review board later this month, area brokers following the controversy tell GlobeSt.com.
