New Foodservice Company Takes Over Old Alliant Plant

SAVAGE, MD-Conklin, NY-based Maines Paper & Food Service Inc., the country’s second largest independent foodservice distribution concern, has opened its newest distribution center in Howard County. The $10 million facility will be located in the former 100,000-sf Alliant Foodservice property at 8730 Bollman Pl. in the Corridor Industrial Park. The $10 million figure includes Maines’ leasing of the facility from Franklin Street Partners for an unknown period of time and plans to expand the structure by 50,000 sf. Maines brings with it 200 new jobs for area residents.

“Bringing quality jobs and significant capital investment to Howard County strengthens the warehousing/distribution industry in this region and will provide tremendous opportunities for future growth,” Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. says of Maines’ decision to locate the distribution center in the area. The company’s other distribution centers are in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Ohio.
