The square will be defined by a new Town Hall entrance, commercial and residential buildings, together with the existing theatre, library and cinema. Overall, the development will comprise 120,000 sf of retail and leisure space; 488 residential apartments including affordable housing, arranged around communal gardens; a new entrance wing to the Town Hall, 15,500 sf of community and civic facilities and 300 car parking spaces.
The developers expect to submit a planning application in mid 2004. Architect for the project is GMW and Chase & Partners is commercial property consultant.
