"The retail side is like a relatively small company," Rosenfield tells GlobeSt.com. "The potential is amazing for Cushman & Wakefield to grow." He adds that much energy will be focused in New York, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago as well as in pursuing opportunities for European retailers who want to break into the US marketplace.Rosenfield founded JS Rosenfield & Co. 15 years ago. The firm specializes in the representation of retail store and mall owners, as well as national retailers wishing to establish or expand their presence in US markets. In addition to brokerage services, the firm acts as leasing agent for more than three million sf of retail space, including three regional malls for General Growth Properties Inc., Third Party Division--the second largest regional mall REIT in the US.

In addition to representing Sears exclusively in Southern California for nearly 10 years, Rosenfield assisted in the lease up of the 445,000 sf first phase of Federal Realty Investment Trust's 700,000 sf Santana Row in San Jose. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a lecturer on matters pertinent to the retail industry. Rosenfield graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and serves on the Santa Monica Landmarks Commission.

"Cushman & Wakefield is a dynamic company with a rapidly growing presence in retail brokerage, both nationally and globally," says Rosenfield, who will be based in Los Angeles and New York City. "We are excited about being part of such a recognized and respected organization."

Bercu, a 15-year veteran in the retail services industry, oversees leasing for General Growth Properties Western Region. While with Epsteen Associates, he completed more than 500 transactions with an aggregate leasehold value in excess of $200 million for such clients as the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Starbucks, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Bercu also holds a degree from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. He will be based in Los Angeles.

"Jim Rosenfield is arguably the most respected name in retail brokerage and management not only in southern California but throughout the nation," says Bruce Mosler, president of US operations for C&W. "Both Jim and Daniel bring with them an unparalleled level of expertise for retailers and owners who want to break into new markets, locate strategically and maximize asset values."
