The buyer exchanged a retail property in San Diego for Mason Plaza at 1959 Mason Rd., Jerry D. Goldstein in the local office of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. tells GlobeSt.com. The property will debut in January at 100% occupancy. The tenant roster includes Subway and several "mom and pop" retailers like a billiard hall and restaurant, nail shop, dollar store and dry cleaners.

Goldstein represented the seller, Paramount Properties, a locally based merchant builder. He says the 1.4-acre development went up for sale when the ground broke. There was plenty of interest from would-be buyers, they weren't motivated because construction was far from done, according to Goldstein.

A broker in Marcus & Millichap's Portland, OR office connected Granville Properties to the deal. The buyer was very motivated, Goldstein says, adding that the purchase is intended to be a long-term investment.
