Emad A. Makiya bought a pair of adjoining condo-style units at 9752 and 9754 Whithorn Dr. that were reconfigured into a single building by knocking down a common wall, Kevin A. Erck with the Houston office of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. tells GlobeSt.com. The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department was the last tenant in the building.
Erck says the owner, Aberdeen Center Ltd. of San Antonio, brought the condos to the "for lease" market after the firefighters bought a building in the park and moved. About six months into the leasing effort, Makiya's interest in buying the condos jumpstarted negotiations for a listing without an asking price. Erck says the seller's expectation hovered $38 per sf. He and John M. Talhelm, also with C&W, represented the seller, who also is selling 30 undeveloped acres in the park.
