The BCA Headquarters, a 224,000-sf complex at the corner of Maryland Avenue and Phalen Boulevard, is perhaps the key project in the redevelopment of the Phalen Corridor. The new building, which opened at 1430 Maryland Ave. E., is about three times the size of the BCA's previous headquarters on University Avenue in the city's Midway area.

Phalen Corridor is an ambitious effort to redevelop a run-down industrial area and attract private and public investment. Among the other new projects that have gone up here are a bank, a senior citizen housing complex and townhouses.

In addition to the new headquarters, the state agency has about 300 employees, a budget of $51 million and field offices in 11 cities.
