The Goshen, IN-based company has acquired a 108,000-sf plant on 13 acres and will employ 120 people. Its first assignment will be completing an order for Budget Rental. From January through May, the plant will produce 840 16- and 24-ft trucks exclusively to fulfill a contract with the company.

Supreme paid $2.4 million for the land and building, previously used by a maker of manufactured homes. The seller was Western Homes Corporation of Auburn Hills, MI. Tom Talbot, a broker with Grubb & Ellis in Portland, represented Supreme in their acquisition. Tim Campbell of Campbell Commercial Real Estate in Eugene and Caleb Fox of Binswanger in Philadelphia, PA, represented the seller.

Supreme had been servicing the Northwest from its plant in Moreno Valley, CA. The new Woodburn plant was in support of "an intensive campaign to expand sales in the Pacific Northwest, particularly in the areas of Portland, Seattle and Vancouver," according to the company.

The work the company will be doing for Budget will utilize less than half the plant's capacity. At full-throttle, the plant can produce 3,900 trucks per year, according to the company.

After the Budget contract is fulfilled, Supreme says the plant will produce some of its best-selling truck bodies, including Spartan Service bodies, Iner-City cutaways, Spartan Cargo Vans, stake beds and Van Bodies.

Founded in 1974, Supreme Corp. has recorded a profit during every year of its existence. During that time, they've become the nation's leading full-line manufacturer of customized, general-purpose truck and bus bodies. The opening of the Woodburn plant will increase the number of Supreme's manufacturing facilities from five to six and its total number of facilities from 16 to 17.
