BRUCE TOWNSHIP, MI-A vacant factory may become a mini-mall in this northern Macomb County township, about 25 miles north of Detroit.

George Adams Jr. plans to renovate the factory, which has been vacant since the 1970s, and put 20 shops there. The new development would be called the North Romeo Mini-Mall and occupy 50,000 sf to 60,000 sf. The shops would include a furniture store, ice cream shop and restaurant.

“These are the type of things I’m looking at and the people I’m talking with,” Adams says. “Nothing is committed at this point.” Adams, who isn’t naming specific businesses as yet, says renovating the plant would spruce up the area while bringing more modern amenities to the township.
