The committee is required to include at least 17 members, one from each council district, and additional members needed to ensure representation in each of the seven counties, and a chair. At least half of the members must be local elected officials. The committee will meet monthly. The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the seven-county metropolitan area.
The land use committee consists of Tom Egan, chairman, Metropolitan Council member, Eagan; Marvin Johnson, elected official, Independence; Mason Schmitz, elected official, Brooklyn Park; Robyn Cook, elected official, Wayzata; Mark Schiffman, elected official, Waconia; Robert Vogel, elected official, New Market; Steve Elkins, elected official, Bloomington; Don Keysser, Golden Valley; Barbara Johnson, elected official, Minneapolis; Duane Arens, St. Anthony; David Elvig, elected official, Ramsey; Jed Ipsen, Roseville; Bart Rehbein, Centerville; E. Craig Morris, elected official, Lakeland; Michael Noonan, Mendota Heights; Deborah Haugh, St. Paul; Nancy Schouweiler, elected official, Inver Grove Heights; and Eino Ristola, elected official, Hampton Township.
