WASHINGTON, DC-Nearly three months acquiring the 156,000-sf building at 1710 H St. from Verizon, Washington, DC, in a $33.5 million deal, Brandt Development has gotten a chance to move forward with plans for the property now that Verizon has begun its move from the premises. Brandt is planning to redevelop the nearly half-century-old building into a 140-unit condominium property.
An 11-story, class C office structure, 1710 H St., was developed in 1959. District tax records list the property’s proposed 2004 assessed value at $21.6 million. There has been no word on how much the redevelopment endeavor will cost or when it will reach completion. In the meantime, Verizon employees are making their way over to their new local headquarters offices in the Verizon-owned office building at 2055 L St. The telecommunications company will house its executive offices, federal systems, central office operations, operator and dispatch services at the facility.
