The project, which is expected to take three to five years to complete, will include 2,400 housing units (including affordable units), 775,000 sf of commercial space (including 450,000 sf of retail space) and 35 acres of parkland. The project is expected to create 2,100 new jobs.

The new Downtown will include places to live, acres of parks and open spaces, gathering places to join with family and friends, shopping, eating, professional business services, entertainment, the arts and more.

"The master plan of the town center preserves the city's rural character and small-town friendliness while meeting the needs of its residents," says John Feges, president of Ramsey Town Center LLC.

"The new Downtown features relaxing parkways, an energetic business district, a diverse mix of attractive housing, and a harmonious mix of retail, business and living spaces along with multiple modes of transportation to, from and around the center."

The developer and general contractor will be Ramsey Town Center LLC. Other firms involved in the project include Elness Swenson Graham Architects Inc. (architects); Close Landscape Architecture (landscape architecture); Emmons and Olivier Resources (environmental); EKA Associates (business planning); Meyer Mohaddes Associates Inc. (traffic); North American Wetland Engineering (environmental); Polaris Group Inc. (Civil Engineering); Shingobee Builders Inc. (commercial sales, construction management, commercial contractor); Siegfried Dunlay Corp. (marketing); and Thomas Consulting (retail market research) URS (civil engineering).
