Stryker Instruments, located at 4100 East Milham Avenue, Portage, manufactures large- and small-bone powered surgical instruments and other high-technology medical devices principally used in orthopaedic surgery.
A new $32 million 400,000 sf manufacturing facility for Stryker Medical will be constructed on 80 acres located at the southwest corner of Centre Street and Sprinkle Road, also in Portage.
Stryker Medical manufactures patient care and handling equipment, including hospital beds, emergency room stretchers and ambulance cots, at its current locations at 6300 South Sprinkle Road, Portage, and 420 Alcott Street in Kalamazoo.
Stryker says it will put the Sprinkle Road facility on the market and that a decision has not yet been made about the Alcott Street property.Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2004 and be completed by the end of 2005.
