Kohl's Plans First Southeast Distribution Center

MACON, GA-Kohl’s Department Stores of Menomonee Falls, WI is expected to break ground in first quarter 2004 on its first Southeastern distribution center, area industrial real estate brokers tell GlobeSt.com. The estimated 750,000-sf facility could be built at a projected hard construction cost of $38 million in this Middle Georgia city, according to brokers.

Kohl’s officials couldn’t be reached by GlobeSt.com’s publication deadline; however, area industrial real estate brokers tell GlobeSt.com the facility could be built for about $50 per sf. The retailer plans to open the center by July 2005 with an initial staff of 200 that could grow to 400 as the property is expanded, brokers tell GlobeSt.com.
