Le Meridien Hotel Gets a New Name

BOSTON-The hotel's owner decided to take over the management of the 326-room facility and says the name change is part of the company's plan to move into direct management in North America.

BOSTON-The Le Meridien Boston Hotel is being rebranded the Langham, Boston. The 326-room hotel, which is owned by Langham Hotels International Limited, had a management agreement with the Meridien Group which expired at the end of 2003. Langham, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Eagle Hotels International, decided not to renew with Meridien, but to take the management duties over itself.

The company says that the taking over of the management of the hotel reflects its move into direct management in North America where the group has further interest to expand. The hotel opened as Le Meridien Boston in 1981 within the building that originally housed the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It is a luxury property located in the financial district near the city’s Downtown
