ROCKVILLE, MD-The “no vacancy” sign has been turned on at the 277,000-sf office structure known as the Tower Building with the recent leasing of the last available 30,000 sf at the premiere property. The US Department of Health and Human Services, which currently occupies 90,000 sf of space at the property, has decided to expand its offices by taking on the remaining space in the 10-story building. Space in the building leases for approximately $30 to $40 per sf. The specific length of the lease agreement is unavailable, however HHS’s existing lease contracts at the property were signed for 10-year terms.

Located on a 12-acre parcel in Tower Oaks–the 200-acre high-tech campus that has been designated a gateway of sorts for the I-270 Technology Corridor–the three-year-old Tower building is a “green,” or environmentally sound and efficient, structure that is also home to the likes of Bank of America, management and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, and Telenor Satellite Services. “This move demonstrates the agency’s commitment to healthy living and a pledge to provide their employees a cleaner and healthier work environment,” Tower Cos. Partner Jeffrey Abramson says of HHS’s lease extension.
