PORTLAND-Longtime local industrial broker Kappes has joined the local office of Trammell Crow Co. Kappes, who has spent the past 18 years with CB Richard Ellis, says he made the move because “the timing was right to work with an established group of industrial brokers and to help facilitate the leasing of some large industrial portfolios they manage.”

Licensed in both Oregon and Washington, Kappes concentrates on the sale and leasing of industrial properties. His experience includes buyer and tenant representation, consulting, marketing, lease extensions and long-term ground lease negotiations. On the development side, he has experience working with developers in land sales, build-to-suit and speculative projects. A partial list of clients represented includes: Pendleton Woolen Mills, Portland Community College, Oregon Historical Society, the Port of Portland and Port of Vancouver.

Kappes is the third veteran broker added to TCC’s local office since it lost four experienced brokers during the second half of 2002. In the summer of 2002, then city leader Chris Nelson left to start his own development business. Shortly thereafter, Nelson was joined by Jeff Sackett, then TCC’s vice president of development. Retail brokers Craig Sweitzer and Dan Bozich also left to establish their own firm prior to the end of that year.
