The Wyoming Planning Commission has approved the site plan for a 179,000 sf addition to Resurrection Life Church, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW.
The addition will make Resurrection Life one of the two largest churches in Wyoming, and maybe in all the Grand Rapids area, said city planning director Gerald Mears.
Plans call for the worship center to be built with two of the levels below the plane of the existing building. But the building will still be 25 feet higher than the limit, the developer having been issued a height variance.
In a statement, the church said the worship center is the second in a seven-phase construction effort that eventually will include a meeting center for youth groups and outdoor fields for sports and other activities.
