Being developed within the Marqués de Riscal wine complex, the Hotel Marqués de Riscal will be part of Starwood's Luxury Collection Hotel. The hotel is scheduled to open at the end of 2005.

Starwood is touting the Marqués de Riscal Hotel as the most avant-garde member of Starwood's Luxury Collection, as hotel guests will be able to select from a diverse array of suites and rooms designed by Gehry. Starwood officials were not immediately available to discuss the cost of the project, the number of rooms or the expected room rates.

According to the Marqués de Riscal Web site, the hotel is part of a larger structure that will include the headquarters of Marqués de Riscal. The Website says the building will include: private rooms, a 120 -seat- restaurant, two private dining rooms, board rooms, offices, 44 hotel rooms (each with a different Gehry design), a museum, a library and a gift shop.

Vinos de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal produces wines sold in 50 countries. The hotel project will be Gehry's second major project in Spain. In 1997, he created the landmark Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, facilitating an urban revival in that city.
