The project is the second major condo project along Lake St. Clair in the suburb's Nautical Mile section announced in the past year.

Miller Marina, located on 13.5-acres at 24770 Jefferson Ave., will continue to offer a full-service marina and 385 outdoor boat slips to customers, but will build the condo development in an area the marina had used for dry storage of boats.

The two partners in the project are Miller Marina president Anne Miller; her son, Chip, who also works at the marina; and contractor Tom Lefevre, a partner at Jack's on the Waterfront restaurant in St. Clair Shores.

Chip Miller says the "contemporary, classy" condominium project will include 69 to 74 units priced from $265,000 to $1 million for the top penthouse suite. Each unit will have a covered parking space. The condo will have a swimming pool, workout room and banquet hall.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for this May with a target completion date set for July 2005.

The Miller Marina project another planned high rise at Jefferson Beach Marina in town called City Place, which is "a definite go," says City Manager Mark Wollenweber. "They (City Place) have announced they are planning to build a second phase first which is two, 20-story high rises across from the Beach Grill," Wollenweber says. "They are in the process of rebuilding their showroom by the water. We are very excited about that project, and now Miller Marina."
