ST. PAUL-The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra has signed a 20-year lease and is spending $2.1 million to remodel the third floor of the Hamm Building Downtown for a new performance center and administrative offices.

The orchestra’s new performance space is called the SPCO Center, which has a 30-ft high ceiling. It will be surrounded by new rehearsal and practice rooms, a musicians’ lounge and reception area, all of which are under construction. The orchestra’s staff moved into administrative offices into which staff members moved late last year.

The new venue will be on the third floor of the historic Hamm Building and will house a 200-seat rehearsal and performance hall, administrative and ticket offices, a music library, practice rooms and a meeting space for the SPCO’s board of directors and other governance activities.
