The success of the Loft Downtown, where prices start at $99,000, is accelerating plans for phase two of the development, according to a spokesperson for the project. These plans are expected to be announced soon.
The units will range in size from 625 sf to 1,185 sf. Construction is set to begin this year, and completion is targeted for 2006.Buyers of the units included Downtown workers, college personnel, employees of the City of Miami. The project offers proximity to work, access to public transportation, and proximity to Miami-Dade College, the American Airlines Arena and other attractions. "We wanted to create quality, innovative workforce housing in Miami's revitalized Downtown area," Oscar Rodriguez, vice president of the Related Group, says in a statement. "We knew that the right product at the right price would succeed here, and we were right."
The Related Group introduced the Loft Downtown in August at a series of by-invitation-only receptions that targeted county and city employees as well as others who work in the area.
