The real estate trade association has nearly 7,000 members from across the state and throughout all sectors of the real estate industry. Jankowski is replacing Edwin Shanahan, who left the position at the end of the year to start his own lobbying firm.

Brian Kavoogian, the association's president emphasizes that the real estate board will continue to focus on a number of regional issues under its new leadership including: the "inability to produce sufficient levels of housing and its resulting high cost; the need to replace and upgrade much of the region's infrastructure; and the length, complexity and uncertainty of the region's entitlement process."

Jankowski also serves as the executive director of the Coalition Communities, a statewide coalition of 34 municipalities that has been fighting for school finance reform. He also oversaw the negotiation of a tripartite agreement among the city, state, and the US Department of Defense for the cooperative redevelopment of the former Pease Air Force Base.
