Gov. Pawlenty Proposes $22M for Red Lake School

ST. PAUL-The poor Red Lake school district cannot afford its much-needed middle school on its own. Therefore, the state will help fund the project.

ST. PAUL-A new middle school for Red Lake recently got a boost as Gov. Tim Pawlenty said he would include $22.1 million in his 2004 bonding proposal for its construction.

The project is the second phase of the district’s master plan, which describes facility improvements across the school district.

“Part of a uniform system is adequate school facilities. Because of a variety of unique challenges, the Red Lake District does not have the resources necessary to construct a desperately needed middle school,” Pawlenty says.
