VeriCenter Inc. bought four data centers, totaling 396,000 sf, in Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Richardson's Telecom Corridor on the outskirts of Dallas. In keeping with data center practice, a VeriCenter Inc. spokeswoman cited security concerns as the motivation to keep the addresses secret, but she did concede each center is a leased site. The acquisition terms allowed VeriCenter to choose four of Sprint's 10 data center locations.

The largest center contains 150,000 sf in southeastern Denver. The Atlanta facility consists of 96,000 sf in the CBD while the Boston CBD and Richardson centers are 75,000 sf apiece.

Sprint previously sold a data center in Santa Clara, CA to Equinix of Foster City, CA. In a report, Tier 1 Research of Minneapolis said Sprint will have disposed of roughly 55% of $60 million in hosting revenue with the closing.

"When a $7-billion fragmented industry consolidates, there emerges great opportunity for companies such as VeriCenter," Andrew Schroepfer, president and founder of Tier 1 Research, said in a prepared statement. "The transaction catapults VeriCenter from a regional to a national player positioning them in the top tier of managed hosting providers.
