Houston Provider Purchases Sprint Assets

HOUSTON-VeriCenter Inc. cherry picks four of 10 Sprint data centers for an acquisition that includes customer lists and 200 employees. The deal rolls 396,000 sf of leased space in Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Richardson's Telecom Corridor near Dallas.

HOUSTON-A local provider of managed web hosting and IT services has picked up four data centers, 200 employees and customer lists from the Overland Park, KS-based Sprint in the ongoing disposition of a managed hosting business.

VeriCenter Inc. bought four data centers, totaling 396,000 sf, in Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Richardson’s Telecom Corridor on the outskirts of Dallas. In keeping with data center practice, a VeriCenter Inc. spokeswoman cited security concerns as the motivation to keep the addresses secret, but she did concede each center is a leased site. The acquisition terms allowed VeriCenter to choose four of Sprint’s 10 data center locations.

The largest center contains 150,000 sf in southeastern Denver. The Atlanta facility consists of 96,000 sf in the CBD while the Boston CBD and Richardson centers are 75,000 sf apiece.
