This compares to multi-family units running at 44% in 2002, 41.5% in 2001, and 37.5% in 2000.
"We added over $3 billion to the local economy in 2003, providing a whole host of jobs as well as homes for local families," says Rick Kot, 2004 president of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities and president of R.A. Kot Homes Inc.
In December 2003 there were a total of 877 permits issued for 1,402 planned units at a value of $236 million, according to the latest report from the Builders Association of the Twin Cities.
Year-to-date, multi-family planned units remain at 49% of the total (9,230 multi-family units vs. 9,770 single-family units).
Among the Twin Cities suburbs with the most planned units in December 2003, Medina was in first place with 93, then Center City with 80, Shakopee with 72, Inver Grove Heights with 63 and Ramsey at 59.
