New York Goes Green

NEW YORK CITY-Clean energy or “Green Power” is now also available to consumers and business here. Generated by upstate “wind farms,” it’s delivered by ConEdison Solutions and provided by Community Energy Inc.

A number of area real estate concerns were acknowledged at an event designed to raise awareness of initiatives to utilize renewable energy sources. The Durst Organization’s, whose 4 Times Square has recognized nationally as one of the nation’s most “green” buildings, has become New York State’s largest commercial customer of wind power.

The company is making an annual purchase of approximately 10.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable “Green Power,” which consists of NewWind Energy, a product of Community Energy Inc., for its 7.5-million-sf portfolio of seven high-rise office buildings in Manhattan.
