The project entailed the construction of two new treatment rooms, a paramedic's room, registration area, and family waiting room. As well as the new additions, the project included upgrades to the existing treatment rooms, hallway, physician's rooms, and nurses' station.

Designed by Julia Cousins of Moon Mayoras Architects, the UCSD project was built by ROEL Construction. Brian Duffy of UCSD Facilities Design & Construction served as the construction manager, while ROEL representatives included project executive Donna Vargo, project manager Gaurav Shah, superintendents Ray Huelsman and Mark Jemison, and project coordinator Diane Huston. Additional services were provided by subcontractors including Casper Co., Karcher Insulation Inc., Johnson-Kinsey Inc., Construction Electronics Inc., Matzenauer Electric Inc., and Acme Awning & Canvas Co.
