State Will Host Brownfield Workshops

TAYLOR, MI-Property developers can learn about the ins and outs of using the state's brownfield tax credit at a special workshop.

TAYLOR, MI-The State of Michigan will offer a series of informational workshops on how to use the state’s brownfield tax credits as part of a land redevelopment project. The one-day workshop will be offered in Taylor in the Detroit area and at other locations around the state. The events are designed to target local brownfield redevelopment authorities, economic development staff and property developers.

“Michigan’s brownfield program has transformed blighted areas of communities all across the state, making eyesores into catalysts for community development,” says Gov. Jennifer Granholm. “We want to make sure that this excellent tool is utilized to the fullest extent to help create cool cities and create jobs statewide.”

The state Department of Environmental Quality will present information on changes to the brownfield grant and loan program, recent legislative actions and the creation of a new revolving loan program.
