Michigan Wins High-Tech Expansion

ANN ARBOR, MI-A high tech company says it will invest $4.7 million in expanding its operations in Ann Arbor. A state tax credit will ease the company's burden.

ANN ARBOR, MI-High-tech operator Sensicore says it will spend about $4.7 million to expand its research and manufacturing operations in Ann Arbor. The company had been considering moving its new operations to New Jersey, but a tax incentive package from the state and a new work contract with the city of Ann Arbor helped convince Sensicore to stay in Ann Arbor.

Sensicore was founded in 2000 by the Ann Arbor-based venture capital firm Ardesta LLC. Spun out of research conducted at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the company has developed an innovative “lab-on-a-chip” multi-sensor device. Applications include a wide variety of environmental and municipal water quality monitoring functions, including the development of widely dispersed sensor networks to monitor the quality of water right up to the home.

With the expansion, Sensicore expects to add about 156 new jobs.
